With all its complications and responsibilities, a car gives a lot of freedom. And European ranges give some special moments like:
“Hey, are we out of tea? Oh no, it’s Sunday, supermarkets are closed. Maybe, let’s go to the Netherlands?”

Some surprising places can be found in these rather hidden gems. A bookstore that is a museum of itself, multilayered as knowledge. Going from there to a church does shift some thoughts around. Especially after realizing that almost every stone on the floor is a grave.

D’Artagnan
Even more strange was to find a statue of a character from an old movie and books from childhood.
A statue from controversial times, but for a character who inspired some people years ago. I don’t think nowadays many remember who he is or have the same nostalgia as people from my generation (crazy to think like that, it was just a moment ago when there was no younger generation, but now there are at least 2).
This statue made Maastricht for me somehow personally remarkable, a point on a map where very different times, places that are far, far away, and seemingly unrelated events are connecting now.
